Board of Education Approves the 2015-16 District Calendar

Fall Athletes Honored & FFA Makes "Know-vember" Presentation

Fall Athletes excelling at the district, regional, or state level were recognized at the November 11, 2014 Board of Education. The PHS FFA Chapter made their "Know-vember" presentation.  Good job to these students!  Click "Read More" for individual honors and pictures.


PCS Hosts Community-Wide Veteran's Day Celebration
A wonderful celebration for our Veterans was held on Tuesday evening, November 11, at 7:00 p.m. in the Pendleton High School Auditorium.

2014-15 Transportation Weather Plan

The district's "Weather Plan" may be put into effect when the majority of the county roads are open and a few of the more isolated roads are still deemed unsafe for bus travel. This Weather Plan will be announced via media, school messenger, & webpage.  A list of the affected roads may be accessed under "Weather Plan" on the Transportation page or Click here to access the Weather Plan that was revised on November 14, 2014.
 


Houchens Awarded Artsonia Leadership Award

Congratulations to Ms. Buffy Houchens, Northern Elementary School Art Teacher, for being awarded the Artsonia Leadership Award for the 2013-14 school year.  Ms. Houchens received this award for her outstanding family and community involvement in education and her technology integration in the arts.  Northern Elementary ranks #1 in the state of Kentucky and 36th nationwide in Artsonia.


Service Learning Project Winners at NES

Congratulations to Northern Elementary teachers Robin Reis and Kelly Hopp!!  1st grade teacher, Robin Reis and 3rd grade teacher, Kelly Hopp will be implementing service learning projects in their classrooms with the help of our community partner, Heritage Bank!  Heritage Bank agreed to sponsor two service learning projects at NES!  Mrs. Reis and Mrs. Hopp submitted their proposals to the bank and were selected for sponsorship!  We are very proud of our teachers and look forward to seeing their projects in action!  Click "Read More" for pictures.


Superintendent Announces 2014 Test Scores

The Kentucky Department of Education has released the 2013-14 test results.  Kentucky's Unbridled Learning assessment and accountability system is designed to provide in-depth information about the performance of students, schools, districts and the state as a whole.  Please click the "Read More" below to access an important announcement from Superintendent Strong.


South Family Youth Resource Service Center Offers Readiness Workshops

Southern Elementary is offering a free parent workshop series to help families in our community ensure their young children are prepared for school.

It’s the simple things that make a difference in building a young child’s foundation for success in school and life. It’s not flash cards or expensive educational toys – it’s things like making your grocery trip into a treasure hunt for colors and shapes. Everyday activities are fun, easy opportunities to encourage learning.

Commissioner of Education Makes Important Announcement

On August 25 The Kentucky Department of Education launched a major push to get teachers, parents and others to learn more about the state’s English/language arts and math academic measures, and then to provide input – pro or con – about the standards and any specific changes that should be made next year.  Superintendent Anthony Strong and Assistant Superintendent Amy Razor attended the press conference.

Board Recognizes 2014 Retirees

At the August 21 Board of Education meeting, individuals who recently retired were recognized.  Retirees with 19 years or less with Pendleton County Schools were presented beautiful acrylic engraved awards and retirees with 20 years or more were given an engraved clock.  Fifteen employees were honored and their combined years of service to Pendleton County Schools totaled 316.50 years.  Congratulations and thank you for your dedication service to the district!  For a list & picture of retirees, click "Read More".


2014 Opening Day Appreciation Celebration Breakfast

Opening Day Appreciation Celebration was held Thursday, August 7.   This is the 7th year for the celebration, which  brings our school personnel and our businesses, organizations, and churches together to support each other in our shared mission: to create a brighter future for our children and thus our community.  Following a delicious breakfast prepared by the food service managers, Superintendent Anthony Strong addressed the group and employees were recognized for years-of-service and model classrooms.

Transportation Department Announces 2014-15 Bus Routes

The Transportation Department is working diligently to organize bus routes so that students' travel times are held to a minimal.   Click here to view 2014-15 Bus Route (by road).  Parents are urged to check back occasionally for any changes or updates.  For additional transportation information, click the Transportation tab under Student Services.

2014 Wall of Fame Inductee ~ Lt Col. Robbin Higgins

In 1993 Pendleton County Schools inducted the first Wall of Fame recipient.  Since that time it has become a part of the graduation ceremony to introduce the new inductees each year.  The criteria for this award is to be a graduate of a high school in Pendleton County and to have gone above and beyond in their career to show service to their community or fellow man.  This year’s recipient goes above and beyond this criteria.
